OCES Celebrates the New Year with Special Meals at Community Dining Sites

Throughout January, Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the non-profit agency proudly serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout greater Plymouth County and surrounding communities, offers special meals at several community dining sites in celebration of the New Year.

OCES will offer a delicious New Year’s meal featuring chicken breast with spinach and red pepper, white rice, parsley carrots, herbed garlic dinner roll, snowflake cookie (or special diet cookie) at the following community dining sites:

-On January 2, 2018 at noon at the Kingston Council on Aging (COA) dining site, 30 Evergreen Street, Kingston, MA 02364.
-On January 4, 2018 at noon at the Halifax COA dining site, 506 Plymouth Street, Halifax MA 02338.
-On January 16, 2018 at noon at the Brockton COA dining site in the Mary Cruise Kennedy Senior Center, 10 Father Kenney Way, Brockton, MA 02301.

On January 11, 2018, a “Just-like-Thanksgiving-Day Special” of roast turkey breast, giblet gravy, savory stuffing, cranberry sauce, whipped potatoes, seasoned peas, carrots and corn medley, corn bread and apple pie (or diet cinnamon baked apple slices) will be offered at Campello Hi-Rise community dining site in Brockton, MA 02301.

On January 24, 2018, “A Taste of Italy” special meal of cannelloni cheese pasta with white sauce, cauliflower and zucchini, baked tomato half, scali bread, Amaretto mousse with topping (or diet Amaretto mousse) will be offered at the Wareham COA dining site located at 48 Marion Road, Wareham, MA 02571.

On January 25, 2018, a special “Traveling Chef Carving of the Day” meal of roast turkey with gravy, savory stuffing, whipped potatoes, vegetable medley, cranberry sauce, snowflake dinner roll and chocolate éclair will be offered at the Whitman COA, 16 Hayden Avenue, Whitman, MA 02382.

Reservations are required and may be made by calling each town’s COA directly.

Daily Meals at Community Dining Sites
OCES’ community dining sites provide hot, nutritious noontime meals Monday through Friday to adults age 60+ and individuals with disabilities under the age of 60. Meals are planned by a nutritionist and meet one-third of the Recommended Daily Allowance for major nutrients. The meals do not include high sodium foods and no salt is added. Low-fat milk is provided.
