The economic impact of franchise operations in Maine is substantial. There are over 3500 franchised units in the State of Maine that directly employ over 38,000 Maine citizens with a payroll that exceeds $1 billion and a Gross Domestic Product approaching $4 billion, according to the International Franchise Association.
To facilitate additional franchise expansion, the Maine Franchise Owners Association (MFOA) has been launched. With offices at 415 Congress Street, Portland, ME, the organization includes franchise owners and suppliers throughout the State of Maine. Franchise members are affiliated with various brands and in many different industries – from fast foods to professional services.
“We represent business owners who invest in Maine, create jobs and contribute to the diverse communities of Maine,” noted Jim Coen, Executive Director of Maine Franchise Owners Association. He added, “Many of Maine franchise owners are Maine residents and have a stake in the community and are catalysts for economic growth.”
