Georgia CALLS Announces Race for Restoration 5K & Fun Run on August 20th

August 5, 2016 //  by admin

RaceForRestoration-01-295x300 copyGeorgia CALLS will hold their first annual “Race for Restoration 5K & Fun Run” on August 20, 2016 at Little Mulberry Park in Dacula, GA. Registration is now open.

With an expanded mission to help families recover from homelessness and lack of employment, Georgia CALLS is a unique 501c3 organization that started as a reentry program serving the state of Georgia in its commitment to helping formerly incarcerated and state supervised individuals develop critical job and life skills while providing much-needed work opportunities.

To highlight their new mission of helping to rebuild families, Georgia CALLS’ Race for Restoration 5K & Fun Run is a family-friendly race along the beautiful paved paths at Little Mulberry Park. Strollers are welcome on the racecourse, so runners may bring the entire family. The top overall male and female winners will receive trophies and gift cards to Big Peach Running Company in Suwanee. The top male and female finishers in each age group (from 10 and under all the way to 65 and up) will be awarded medals.

Registration/check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. The Fun Run, which is for all ages, starts at 9 a.m.

Race for Restoration 5K & Fun Run sponsors include VoiceNation, Walmart in Collins Hill, Chick-Fil-A, Classic City Running in Buford, Dr. Bill Morrison, O.D., Mike Thomas State Farm Insurance Agency, Costco, Kona Ice of Gwinnett, Panera Bread, Waffle House, Big Peach Running Company of Suwanee, Rewriting Our Story, YouScore.net and Angecansew. C&A Johnson Plumbing Service of Gwinnett is the water station sponsor, and Lamar Advertising of Atlanta is the billboard sponsor.

All proceeds benefit Georgia CALLS programs that support families in need as well as the Georgia CALLS’ Campus Dream Project – a comprehensive solution-focused model that will meet the needs of both individuals and families searching for hope and a second chance in society. Campus Dream is Georgia CALLS on a grand scale, with numerous work opportunities, job/life skills training, transitional housing, a food bank, tutoring, after school programs, and childcare.

Race registration is $25. The Fun Run is $15. A special Family Discount Rate is $79 for a family of four. All racers receive a complimentary race T-shirt and swag bag.

To register for the Race, or to become a sponsor, visit www.gacalls.org/race-for-restoration-5k.

“We have an immediate need in our program, as Georgia CALLS is currently supporting and housing six of our program participants who recently lost their housing,” said Mark Mobley, Executive Director of Georgia CALLS. “We’d like to thank all of our race sponsors, participants and donors for supporting our initiative and helping to magnify the impact we have on homeless families and children in our community.”

Anyone who is unable to participate in the race, but would like to get involved, may make a donation online to benefit these families by visiting the Georgia CALLS at www.gacalls.org/donations/give-online.
