Getting out of the Gutter and celebrating a milestone. Brothers That Just Do Gutters turn 20 and cut the ribbon on new national headquarters.

March 12, 2020 //  by admin

More than 150 people – including 11 franchisees, members of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, numerous suppliers, employees, family members and the public – helped celebrate the  20th anniversary and completion of the Brothers That Just Do Gutters new national headquarters, franchisee training center and warehouse facilities on March 6.  The new, expanded location is 55 Page Park Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY.

“It was great to share the 20th anniversary and opening of our new corporate headquarters with those who were instrumental in helping us get to this milestone,” noted Ken Parsons, founder of Brothers That Just Do Gutters.

Ryan Parsons, the second Gutter Brother and Chief Solutionist for the company, added “It is great to be supported by everyone we interact with. We can feel the momentum of creating a new paradigm for gutter contractors.  We are helping hard working, motivated entrepreneurs get out of their truck and really build a scalable business that supports their families, provides value to customers and creates jobs in the community.”

He added, “On-going benchmarking, sales training, product education, lead generation and appointment coordination in a thoughtful, consistent delivery way continues to produce measurable and significant success.”

The celebration took place on the last day of the Brothers That Just Do Gutters Annual Franchise conference.  The conference provided additional training and support for the 11 Brothers Gutters franchisees with locations from Florida to New Jersey and as far as Texas.

The new Brothers That Just Do Gutters includes 2,000 square feet of office space, a 5,000 square feet training center and 5,000 for warehousing.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Story

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters was born out of Ken Parson’s vision for a better contracting service than the ones operating in his market and beyond. While working as a gutter installer for another company summers between teaching History in 1996, he determined exactly what qualities such an operation should embody. In 1999 his plans were solidified with the opening of what is now called The Brothers That Just Do Gutters.

After extensive campaigning, Ken was able to recruit his brother, Ryan to join him as the co-owner and Chief Solutionist© of their growing operation. The sibling essentially threw their higher education into the gutter and haven’t looked back since.

Fast forward to 2019. Ken and Ryan have helped dozens of other motivated individuals, partners and couples realize the American Dream by opening The Brothers That Just Do Gutters franchises of their own. Today, there are 10 Brothers Gutter franchise locations from Florida to New Jersey and even across the county in Seattle. Their proprietary system enables quick growth and ample return on investment with direct training, ongoing consultation and shared exposure.

For more information about The Brothers That Just Do Gutters system, visit www.brothersfranchise.com or call (845) 705-7276.

Fall River, MA Safety Company Offers Next Generation of Hand Sanitizer. Lasting Protection Against Germs with Prefense

March 4, 2020 //  by admin

Handwashing is one of the best practices for staying healthy. With the threat of contagious viruses such as the flu and coronavirus, defending against germs is imperative. Now, there is a new generation of hand sanitizer that bolsters that defense.

Prefense foam hand sanitizer is a revolutionary new hand sanitizer that acts as a “barrier” to germs and offers lasting protection with just one application per day. Prefense foam hand sanitizer is a patented, alcohol-free formula that soothes and moisturizes hands while providing up to 24-hour protection. The active ingredient in Prefense safely bonds with skin to provide antimicrobial protection all day long, or through 10 hand washings.

“Prefense is a hand sanitizer that provides barrier-type protection and is the only one like it in the world,” said John V. Carvalho III, founder and president of Apollo Safety, Inc., gas detection experts and the leading safety and technical services equipment provider in New England that has been protecting the public from invisible, airborne threats for 25 years. “This product has been scientifically and medically vetted, and has proven effective. We’ve added Prefense to our comprehensive line of protective products.”

Having long been the accepted practice for when soap and water is not readily available, alcohol based sanitizers are no longer the only option. An alcohol based sanitizer evaporates (after application) along with the skin’s protective layer of natural oils, which can leave skin dry, chapped and cracking. Ultimately, over time it can compromise the skin’s ability to keep germs out.

Safe for the whole family, Prefense is a colorless foam that applies easily and dries quickly. Prefense does not contain alcohol, triclosan, hydrogen peroxide, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, parabens or harsh chemicals. It is made from a patented, silica based formula that moisturizes skin.

Prefense foam is sold in 1.5 ounce and 8 ounce bottles and is available online. To learn more about the product or make a purchase, visit Apollo Safety’s website:

https://www.apollosafetyproducts.net/search?query=prefense

In addition to creating greater awareness about this innovative hand sanitizer, Apollo Safety shares best practice tips for staying healthy below:

– Try to avoid those who are already sick and maintain a distance from anyone who is sneezing or coughing when you are in a public space.

– Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth.

– Block your sneeze or cough in the bend of your arm. Or, sneeze or cough into a tissue or napkin and discard it in the trash.

– Wash hands often, scrubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds while making sure to get under fingernails.

– Consider wearing a mask if you are going to a doctor’s office or other healthcare setting or if you are coughing and sneezing and being out in a public space is unavoidable.

– Self-isolate if you are not feeling well, particularly if you are coughing or sneezing.

Protection from invisible, airborne threats.

From farm to front door. Malden, Reading, Wakefield, MA now served by Crescent Ridge Dairy.

Milk truck.

March 3, 2020 //  by admin

Something to moo about.  A new Crescent Ridge Dairy delivery route will now serve Malden, Reading, Wakefield, MA.  The expanded fleet of 12 classic milk trucks now delivers not only Crescent Ridge’s award winning milk and ice cream, but a full array of hundreds of grocery items with an emphasis on locally grown, locally raised, locally handmade and locally prepared foods.  From farm to front door.

“We are delighted to bring the very best of local dairy and food to Malden, Reading and Wakefield,” noted Mark Parrish, the third generation to operate the family business.  He added, “The reception to our wholesale, high grade yet affordable food has been rewarding to our entire staff.  We look forward to the continued expansion of our farm to front door products and the communities we serve.”

Crescent Ridge Dairy’s recently swept a variety of World Dairy Expo Championship awards. Crescent Ridge Dairy’s 2% white milk, whole milk, mint cookies & cream ice cream and coconut almond bar ice cream each were recognized as the best in their respected categories.

Ever since Crescent Ridge Dairy began making premium ice cream at their humble Sharon, Massachusetts dairy farm, their menu has been regarded as a scoop above the cups and cones of other creameries. Demand for their summer-time treats led to the opening of their dairy bar that overlooks grazing cattle in 1968. Since then, the popularity of Crescent Ridge Dairy’s ice cream has grown from a cult following of regional connoisseurs and travelers to international recognition from some of the world’s most respected publications.

In 2009, National Geographic Magazine’s The 10 Best of Everything Ultimate Guide for Travelers featured Crescent Ridge as one of the 10 Best Ice Creams in the World. They would receive this same honor again in 2012. That same year, Food & Wine Magazine cited Crescent Ridge Dairy as one of the Best Ice Cream Spots in the U.S. In 2014, Men’s Journal would inform anyone left who wasn’t already aware of Crescent Ridge Dairy’s reputation by featuring them in their 27 Best Ice Cream Shops in America article.

Taste the hype for yourself. Crescent Ridge Dairy’s products are available for home delivery in the Greater Boston area and directly from the dairy bar located on their Sharon, Massachusetts Farm. You can also find them on the shelves of Stop & Shops, Shaw’s / Star Markets, Roche Brothers, Whole Foods and other major retailers throughout New England.

The Crescent Ridge Story

Malby and Mildred Parrish started Crescent Ridge in 1932 when they purchased the 44-acre plot farmland on Sharon’s historic Bay Road and made it suitable to grow crops and raise cows for milk. Back then, Malby was able to make his rounds delivering fresh dairy to the community with just one dependable 1928 Chevrolet truck. In less than 10 years, the operation had achieved enough success to justify the installation of a modern pasteurization and bottling plant. By 1953 Crescent Ridge controlled a fleet of milk trucks that served not only families in Sharon, but the neighboring towns of Canton, Stoughton, Norwood, Walpole and Westwood, Massachusetts as well.

Crescent Ridge opened their first Dairy Bar on their original plot of land in 1968. Its popularity has only grown since then, with the ice cream it serves winning the reputation of the best in New England amongst locals and seasoned travelers alike. Years later, National Geographic would name it one of The 10 Best Ice Creams in the World. This expansion and the loyal following Crescent Ridge had developed helped the brand weather the troubled economic climate of the 1970 and prosper into the 1980’s. By the early 1990’s Crescent Ridge began expanding its menu starting with fresh squeezed orange juice.

Mark Parrish became the third generation to operate the family business in 1998. This same year, he made significant investments into Crescent Ridge’s infrastructure by expanding their warehouse, freezer and lab space and making updates to their milk plant. Mark continues to innovate and grow the Crescent Ridge brand. Their products can now be found on the shelves of major stores like Stop & Shop, Whole Foods, Shaw’s / Star Market, Roche Bros, Big Y, Boston Public Market and others. He has teamed up with other local businesses and diversified his own operation to feature fresh seafood, grass-fed beef, pork, chicken, produce, maple syrup and other artisan products in their catalogue.

For more information about home delivery, retail locations and the onsite dairy bar, please click to https://www.crescentridgedairybar.com/ or call (781) 784-274.  Visit the cows and staff at 407 Bay Road, Sharon, MA.

Preventing electrical bearing damage – Emerson Bearing Boston offers a solution.

February 27, 2020 //  by admin

When a bearing is exposed to an electric current, it can cause electrical bearing damage, which manifests as pits and grooves on the bearings’ surface. This creates an uneven surface texture causing additional noise, vibration, and (eventually) complete failure. It is a costly problem, often leading to unnecessary downtime and expensive repairs or upgrades.

Railroads are one application in particular where electrical current causing pitting is a major cause of bearing failure. Other applications where extra bearing protection is necessary include motors with variable frequency drives (VFDs), pump motors, HVAC units, refrigeration, compressors, generators and data centers.

Emerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) markets around the world, offers a solution for preventing electrical bearing damage – replacing standard bearings with ceramic hybrid ball bearings.

Although not all bearings are damaged by an electrical current and not all circuits cause bearing damage, the problem typically occurs when equipment is grounded incorrectly or when bearings are used in AC/DC motors with VFDs.

Ceramic Hybrid Bearing Benefits

Ceramic hybrid bearings consist of ceramic rolling balls and an inner and outer steel race. Ceramic bearings provide a level of insulation that eliminates electric arcing and fluting. They also feature double shielding and non-conductive properties and low temperature rise under extreme operating conditions. For example, Nachi ceramic hybrid ball bearings are one of the most durable replacements for traditional steel bearings. They are dimensionally interchangeable with most bearings, which eliminates the need for special modifications during the installation process, facilitates the replacement process, and makes them a more cost-effective replacement option.

“Apart from their tremendous insulating properties, there are many other advantages to switching to ceramic hybrid ball bearings – such as safer operation in extreme conditions, a wider range of speed capabilities and longer bearing life span,” explained Steve Katz, president of Emerson Bearing Boston.

He continued, “Bearings can be damaged by electrical current, as well as many other environmental and operational factors. Understanding these factors and the risks they possess is the best way to prevent costly repairs, downtime, or operator injuries associated with damaged or failed components.”

For more information about Emerson Bearing’s ceramic hybrid bearings and other products, visit EmersonBearing.com.

Website Accessibility Workshop Offered at Metro South Chamber of Commerce on March 12th

February 27, 2020 //  by admin

Does your website meet ADA requirements for people with disabilities? Have you heard about web accessibility, but are unsure if your business is at risk?

Adaptable, a digital accessibility service based in Middleboro, MA, will present a one-hour workshop entitled “Website Accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act: What’s My Responsibility?” to small businesses, non-profits and other organizations on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Metro South Chamber of Commerce, 60 School Street, Brockton MA 02301.

Adaptable helps businesses and organizations of all types and sizes ensure accessibility for their websites, apps, and other digital resources.

The workshop will be led by Adaptable’s accessibility experts Chris Herlihy and Mike McKenna who will cover topics including: How the Americans with Disabilities Act applies to websites and other digital media; how to assess your own website; and what to do next. Attendees will leave with an understanding of digital accessibility and the tools needed to audit their own website.

Adaptable will also be on-hand after the seminar to provide attendees with a free, 60-second on-site accessibility review.

To learn more and register for the event, visit Metro South Chamber’s website event page – https://www.metrosouthchamber.com/calendar-registration/

Helping Businesses Meet Accessibility Standards

Many people with disabilities rely on adaptive tools to use technology. For example, a visually impaired user can utilize a screen reader to help browse a website. If a website is not programmed to meet today’s accessibility standards, adaptive tools will not work correctly, and the user will be left at a disadvantage.

Adaptable is stepping up to implement best practices for ADA online compliance and helping companies get ahead of the curve and avoid costly liability. Services provided include:

– Analysis of current digital accessibility status

– Formulation of a remediation plan

– Execution of the required changes

– Ongoing monitoring going forward to ensure that the business remains in compliance.
